Sonic Youth previews ‘The Eternal’ with 2½-minute mash-up

Sonic Youth

Now that Sonic Youth has freed itself from the shackles of major-labeldom, what publication does the band offer an exclusive preview of its forthcoming Matador Records debut to?

Newsweek?

Go figure. Guess corporate magazines don’t suck after all.

Anyway, below is a 2:34, slightly lo-fi mash-up of the tracks off the band’s forthcoming The Eternal, which drops June 9.

And in other SY news, Matador has announced the details of its Buy Early Get Now offer for The Eternal.

Fans who pre-order the LP or CD will get a stream of the album immediately, and, when the physical edition is released, a bonus limited-edition live LP recorded at the band’s July 4, 2008, show in New York’s Battery Park.

Matador will begin taking pre-orders through local retailers on March 24 and through the label’s Web site beginning April 28.
