Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy covers John Lennon, announces U.S. summer tour

Peter Murphy

With a new album in the works, former Bauhaus frontman and current Chase bank pitchman Peter Murphy has lined up a U.S. club tour that will keep him on the road much of June and July.

After playing the Wave Gotik Treffen Festival in Germany on May 31, Murphy will open his stateside tour June 2 in Seattle and continue on through July 17 in Milwaukee (see dates below). So far, 25 dates have been announced, but Murphy’s Web site promises more.

Murphy has been working on a new record, due out later this year, with producer David Baron. The album will be the singer’s first since 2004’s Unshattered.

In the meantime, Murphy has recorded a cover of John Lennon’s classic “Instant Karma” that’s being used in a Chase TV commercial (see video below). The singer’s Web site promises the song “will be released on iTunes in a few weeks.”
