Morrissey postpones two Italian concerts on cancellation-plagued Tour of Refusal

Morrissey cancels 2 more shows on 'Tour of Refusal'

Not to be outdone by Depeche Mode, Morrissey today postponed two more concerts on his cancellation-plagued Tour of Refusal, mysteriously citing “currently unresolvable issues” rather than the standard health problems that scuttled earlier dates.

While refunds are available for Monday’s and Tuesday’s shows at the Velvet Club in Rimini, Italy, Moz’s Web site advises fans “to hold on to their tickets for further announcements.” On the ex-Smith’s Twitter feed, the news is punctuated by a :( — an emoticon that perhaps best sums up everything about the oh-so-dour Morrissey.

Still, the singer emphasizes: “The Morrissey concerts in London (July 18, 19, 21 and 22) will take place as scheduled.” Which should certainly be hoped for, considering those gigs already have been rescheduled once.

Today’s postponements are the first since Moz rescheduled a pair of early June concerts in France, and bring the total number of Tour of Refusal shows in the U.S. and Europe that have been canceled or rescheduled to 17.

The remainder of Morrissey’s tour now consists of rescheduled and added dates in the U.K. and France, with a couple Italian dates presumably to be added. Moz, however, never rescheduled the six dates he bagged on the U.S. leg of the tour.
