Mission of Burma at WOXY.com, November 2009

Post-punk legends Mission of Burma hit Austin, Texas, a few weeks ago to play the Fun Fun Fun Fest, and while they were in town, the band dropped by the studios of WOXY.com — newly relocated from Cincinnati — to record a few tracks at the station for broadcast.

Three of those songs — “After the Rain” and “Good Cheer,” both from the new album The Sound The Speed The Light, plus “Devotion,” which WOXY says is “a song that’s been ‘in development’ for nearly 25 years” — and an interview can now be downloaded as MP3s. The band also played a cover of The Yardbirds’ “Happenings Ten Years Time Ago,” which WOXY couldn’t legally offer for download.

The band performed a spate of shows this fall in support of its third post-comeback album, and is scheduled to play a half-dozen East Coast concerts in January and February.
