The Godfathers announce St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in London, plus German tour

The Godfathers, circa 1986

Reactivated Brit guitar-rockers The Godfathers today announced a short tour of Germany in December — and revealed they’ll celebrate their 25th anniversary next year with their traditional St. Valentine’s Day Massacre concert in London on Feb. 14.

The band, which has played sporadic dates this year following a near-scuttled U.S.. tour, will perform seven concerts in Germany, beginning Dec. 14 in Wiesbaden and running through Dec. 20 in Hamburg (see dates below); the German concerts will mark the Godfathers’ first performances in that country in more than a decade.

Then, on Feb. 14, the Godfathers will play their customary St. Valentine’s Day Massacre concert at the University of London Union. The band reformed in 2008 to play a St. Valentine’s gig in London, then followed that this year by moving the festivities to Chicago, for what ended up being the only date of a mostly aborted U.S. tour.

Meanwhile, the band — featuring guitarist Del Bartle, who replaced the recently fired Kris Dollimorecontinues working on the follow-up to 1995’s Afterlife, due out in 2010.
