Fun Boy Three’s debut album to be reissued with six bonus B-sides, 12-inch remixes

Fun Boy Three

The 1982 self-titled debut from Fun Boy Three — which spun off from ska revivalists The Specials — will be reissued in expanded form next month in the band’s native England.

Due out Sept. 21, the 11-track The Fun Boy Three, featuring the U.K. hit “The Lunatics (Have Taken Over the Asylum)” and appearances by Bananarama, will include six B-sides and remixes as bonus tracks, including the Gershwin standard “Summertime.”

Frontman Terry Hall formed FB3 after leaving the Specials, following that act’s No. 1 hit “Ghost Town.” He enlisted fellow Specials expatriates Lynval Golding and Neville Staple for the more New Wave-influenced Fun Boy Three, which scored six Top 20 hits in England in its short, two-year lifespan.

The act probably is best known for its version of “Our Lips Are Sealed,” which Hall co-wrote with Go-Go’s guitarist Jane Wiedlin and Fun Boy Three released on its second and final album, 1982’s Waiting (and which Hall sings on Nouvelle Vague’s new album).
