Playlist: Sirius XM’s ‘Dark Wave,’ 5/2/10

Sirius XM's 1st WaveIf it’s Sunday night, that must mean it’s time to check in with the playlist from the weekly “Dark Wave” show on Sirius XM’s classic alternative outlet 1st Wave. Among the highlights of tonight’s episode: “Kinetic,” the one hit from synthpop one-hit-wonder Hilary; “Carpe Diem,” a mid-period single from German EBM act Bigod 20; and “Stigmata,” from Ministry (rather than the usual pop-era stuff they play). Also, the playlist somewhat inexplicably features a track from Puscifer, the ’00s side project from Tool’s Maynard James Keenan. Go figure.

“Dark Wave” airs each Sunday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern/7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific.

  1. I usually listen to 1st Wave during the day, so hearing a half hour of Dark Wave last night was a treat.
My wish is that some of this music makes it into the regular programming of 1st Wave to replace the all to often Pet Shop Boys/Howard Jones/etc. synth-pop.

  2. Hilary a one-hit wonder? What about the classic Drop Your Pants? Big alt radio hit in NY and in the clubs here anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu9Zps8vnEY ;)

  3. The Motels goth????
half that playlist should be on regular rotation. at least its getting broader.

  4. who said anything about goth?

i was there for that and enjoyed it thoroughly. really, really like 1stwave and try to hop on sunday evenings whenever i can.
