Playlist: Sirius XM’s ‘Dark Wave,’ 5/16/10

1st Wave

It’s Sunday night, so it must be time for another episode of “Dark Wave” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave. Highlights from tonight’s show include a pair of album cuts (“More Than a Party,” “And Then…”) from Depeche Mode’s Construction Time Again, a Giorgio Moroder tune from the “Cat People” soundtrack (“Leopard Tree Dream”) and one of The Smiths’ finest moments (“Death of a Disco Dancer”).

Oh, and a quick heads-up to host Swedish Egil: Those upcoming Killing Joke dates in New York and Los Angeles that you keep mentioning on “Dark Wave” and elsewhere on 1st Wave were canceled months ago, and have since been rescheduled for December.

“Dark Wave” airs each Sunday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern/7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific.

  1. I’m not sure where Swedish Egil gets his info, but earlier in the week he mentioned the recent release of a new Scritti Politti anthology that hasn’t come out anywhere.

  2. I would assume Egil gets his info from the unreliable and limited New Wave blogosphere – might make sense for Slicing Eyeballs to reach out to the FIRST WAVE brass at XM and become the “official” source for the channel?? …. I also assume most of the XM jock breaks are voicetracked … not live.
