This week’s installment featured the usual staples (The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxise and the Banshees), plus a few nice surprises, such as Peter Murphy’s “Marlene Dietrich’s Favourite Poem” and Tubeway Army’s “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” You can tune in each Sunday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern/7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific.

  1. I had the chance to listen to this program when Chris the Minister used to host it. It was so much better than it is now. Not that I don’t like what I hear, but he used to play a lot of unearthed goth tracks from the 80s and even early 90s. I saw the previous posting about how XM’s Fred got destroyed. First Wave leaves a lot to be desired now. I miss the show they had with Fred from the B-52s. Sirius and XM have both started to suck ever since they merged, which is quite sad.

  2. Wow… 3 Siouxsie and the Banshees songs and 2 Sisters Of Mercy songs. You could play stuff from Factory Records and 4AD exclusivly and not have to repeat any bands. More variety is needed! They need to start digging a little more deeply into the vast depths of 80s music to find a few more gems.

  3. This is a good attempt by Sirius XM to reach out to listeners of 1st Wave, but if I want to listen to this playlist, I’ll just make it myself and put it on my iPod. Why not try for something less predictable? There is a lot of great stuff from the 90s, like Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Love Spirals Downward, Ikon, Wolfsheim, Project Pitchfork, etc….and not even any Xymox on a Dark Wave show? Bah! And Duran Duran–seriously?
