Playlist: Sirius XM’s ‘Dark Wave,’ 8/15/10

1st Wave

The high points of this week’s “Dark Wave” show on Sirius XM’s classic alternative outlet 1st Wave include a dose of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry (the always-welcome “Heaven”), great album cuts from Depeche Mode and The Cure (“Clean” and “Torture,” respectively) and a thumping Nitzer Ebb track (“Murderous”). On the other hand, Puscifer, the ’00s side project from Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, has unfortunately made its way back into the playlist for some reason.

“Dark Wave” airs each Sunday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern/7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific.

  1. It’s getting to me quite an annoying trend on the program of them playing multiple songs by the same artist. I enjoy the Cure and Sisters, but 3 and 2 songs each? There are other bands that deserve to get some attention on the program too. The Mission UK, March Violets, Skeletal Family, Christian Death, Alien Sex Fiend, Corpus Delecti, Sex Gang Children. Show them a little bit of love….

  2. Well, “Swedish Eagle” is probably not the best choice but holding it together. They need some real rareities like The Cure’s “To The Sky” and some Tones on Tail… Not Go but “Christian Says”, Moya by Sourhern Death Cult… I
It’s supposed to be edgy. I see a lot of poppy tunes on the list as of late. I used to listen to DW for new tracks to add to my collection/sets… Not so much anymore but I still listen.

  3. Braindead Soundmachine…nice! More Wax Trax! bands please.
