Video: The Godfathers’ ‘Birth, School, Work, Death’ from ‘Shot Live at the 100 Club’

With The Godfathers’ 24-track live CD/DVD set Shot Live at the 100 Club due out in less than three weeks, Secret Records Limited today posted the first clip from the June 17 concert at London’s famed 100 Club: fan favorite “Birth, School, Work Death,” the title track to the reunited band’s 1988 album.   1. Much as I loved this song and a few other Godfathers songs and much as I love some of my favourite old bands reuniting, this one makes me realize what Paul Weller means when he says reunions are sad. It just doesn’t work. Feels like karaoke.

    @ G can’t remember when paul weller ever made a decent record in the first place (unless you like bland, suburban, phoney soul rip offs) in order to make such pronouncements, for his sheep to trot out as & when…
    I’ve seen this band & i saw the Sids back in the day, & they still do the biz. still for real. karaoke my arse!
