Pixies to bring ‘Doolittle’ tour to Canada, three more U.S. cities in April, May

Pixies 'Doolittle' tour

The Pixies are keeping the Doolittle train rolling after more than 50 shows, announcing this morning a new round of 16 North American dates this April and May that mostly will hit Canadian cities for the first time — but with stops in Detroit, Milwaukee and St. Paul, Minn. thrown in as well.

The new trek — which once again will find the band playing its 1989 album in its entirety, plus all of its B-sides — opens April 9 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and wraps up nearly a month later, on May 3, in Vancouver, B.C. In between the Canadian run, the tour hits those three U.S. cities April 22-24 (see full dates below).

The Pixies began celebrating the 20th anniversary of Doolittle by performing the album on a European tour in the fall of 2009, then brought the show to the U.S. for the first time that November. In the spring and fall of 2010, respectively, the band took the show Down Under and back to the U.S. for a second round of dates.

Starting Friday, a limited number of tickets to North American dates will be made available through a presale at pixiesmusic.com. According to the band’s publicist, all presale purchases will include a “download taster” of live tracks from the Doolittle show. The general onsale is set for the following Friday, Jan. 28.

If we want to buy ticket, do we just have to call the places you’re going to play ??

  2. man, they’re really milking this one for all it’s worth. ruining a legacy.

  3. Do anyone know if they are taking the Tour to Europe in 2011 ?

  4. did anyone watch loudQUIETloud? that band HATES each other SoooooOooOOoO much. THIS, THIS right here, this tour, is ONLY about the cash. And it won’t be my cash.

  5. what is it with “punk”? the legacy is intact, that is what a legacy is. if you think this is milking it you need to get a life. I saw pixies many times before they split and have seen them several times since the reunion. they are still one of the best live bands I have ever seen. they don’t fake it. frank gives it his all, which as we know, is a lot. if you don’t go, we call it cutting off your nose to spite your face. they are having a great time, earning the money they deserved for their amazing contribution to independant music, defining a genre, releasing four of the best albums of my lifetime. Just wish THROWING MUSES were able to sell out and milk it for all its worth too. Maybe this year as $AD are putting together a best of………

  6. I’m really pumped for this tour. I’m seeing them in Milwaukee. Can’t wait! :D

  7. “they are having a great time”

    bullsh*t.

  8. What’s wrong with Philly? Sheesh.

  9. Never understood the Sell out school of thought. Yes, they had their heyday, but so what.

They are a great band and if they come anywhere near Florida I will be there again to have a great time again, despite me being past my heyday.

  10. Haters everywhere take note:

    In every wood a pecker,
    under every bridge a troll.

  11. Have no money to buy a house? You not have to worry, just because that’s available to take the personal loans to solve all the problems. Therefore take a consolidation loan to buy all you want.

  12. This band is the Renaissance of great music. Ill, aggressive and sooo full of power!!! Heavy yet pretty!! Awe man they woke me up when they started. I hope they reurn to NC. Charles should feel great. Kim is a warrior to beat her demons! Joey is a monster/master of cool. I hope David and I can talk someday cuz i struggled with my father’s passing in much the same way as he. They are more human than many performers. I am so happy that they are performing. They have inspired so many bands. College radio is filled with other bands covering them. Hang in there. Yeah sos….aaahhhhh.

  13. Come and visit me. I teach autistic kids. They will not talk you to death. But we might entertain you!! We jam out..every day… Come and see us. I won’t tell anyone. Neither will they. ab

The Pixies were one of the first bands I saw live at the Latin Quarter in the early 90’s – since then, I’ve seen them a handful of times and they still rock it out like they did back then. The venues may be much larger now, but the music sounds the same – Awesome! How can you not LOVE Kim Deal’s sound?!! I’m looking forward to hearing them in April. “Death to the Pixies”!!

Good lord. Is it really a bad thing that an incredibly influential band that didn’t make dick while they were producing music puts on a tour(s) that makes them the money they rightly deserve?

Can it possibly be a bad thing that these 4 wonderful folk are making a ton of money, by simply playing the music that all of you love?

    I’ll never understand this hostility.

Play the Super Bowl, Pixies, if the pay is right. You’ve more than earned it.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing that they’re “milking it,” I can’t get enough of the Pixies. Besides, they’re also thinking of making new music! http://www.ourstage.com/blog/2011/5/9/pixies-reunite-indie-kids-rejoice-blogosphere-explodes
