BACKSTORY: The frontman first of Camper Van Beethoven, then Cracker, and, more recently, both this week releases his first-ever solo album, a nine-track effort featuring appearances by Johnny Hickman and Sal Maida, both of Cracker, plus the late Mark Linkous, aka Sparklehorse. BACKSTORY: Kilbey, frontman of The Church, teams up with Kennedy, of Australian downtempo act All India Radio, for the second time is less than two years, a project described as “a collection of 11 songs, prayers, whispered spells and lyrical secrets, lightly brushed acoustic guitars and a bed of Lynchian drenched atmospherics.”
