Sebadoh reissuing ‘Bakesale’ and ‘Harmacy,’ embarking on ‘Remembering Time’ U.S. tour

Sebadoh

With Dinosaur Jr on break, bassist Lou Barlow is shifting focus to a revived Sebadoh, with plans to release expanded reissues of 1994’s Bakesale and 1996’s Harmacy this year and take the famously lo-fi act out on the road for the “Bakesale/Harmacy Remembering Time Tour.”

According to a hand-scrawled note on Barlow’s website, the Bakesale reissue — with 25 extra tracks, including B-sides, acoustic versions and demos (see tracklist below) — will be out in “late February/early March,” with Harmacy following in the summer. On Twitter last week, he announced the reissues will be released on Sub Pop in North America and on Domino in Europe, with the European version of Bakesale arriving April 4.

With Dinosaur Jr “on a big fat hiatus while J (Mascis) pretends he’s a peace-loving acoustic guy,” Barlow is re-teaming with bandmate Jason Loewenstein (who joined Sebadoh in the late ’80s) and new drummer Bob D’Amico (who also plays with Loewenstein in The Fiery Furnaces) — rather than original drummer Eric Gaffney or Bakesale-era player Bob Fay — for a U.S. tour in support of the twin reissues.

To date, Barlow — who promises “Jason and I will be playing the songs y’all have been asking for in proper electrified fashion” — has announced a West Coast swing that opens Feb. 7 in Santa Barbara, Calif., and wraps up back in Los Angeles with two shows Feb. 24 and 25; Quasi opens that leg of the tour (see dates below). An East Coast leg of the tour is promised in March, with dates to be announced shortly.
