Peter Murphy to release ‘Ninth’ album in June, finalizes 29-date U.S. tour this spring

Peter Murphy

Former Bauhaus leader Peter Murphy has set a June 7 release date for his first new album in seven years and his ninth overall — the aptly titled Ninth, originally due out last fall — while also finalizing and formally announcing a 29-date U.S. tour this spring.

Not much is known about the follow-up to 2004’s Unshattered, which Murphy first announced last June, saying, in a news release, “I have had my Ninth album ready to go for a while now. I’ve been playing it live, alongside Bauhaus classics and my own hits, long before the official release and it’s added more stardust to the long shelf life of songs I have under my belt.”

As for the U.S. tour, most of the dates had dribbled out over the past month. But according an official itinerary recently posted on Murphy’s website, the trek — Murphy’s first U.S. tour since 2009 —opens March 7 in Seattle and runs through April 10 in Chicago, with multiple shows slated in California, Texas, Florida and Virgina (see full dates below).
