The band — Ric Ocasek, guitarist Elliot Easton, long-retired drummer David Robinson and keyboardist Greg Hawkes, who also is filling in on bass for the late Benjamin Orr. — opens the trek May 10 in Seattle and will wrap up May 26 in their hometown of Boston. On its Facebook page, the band promises, “Look for more info on Monday.”

The Cars are set to release their much-anticipated reunion album Move Like This on May 10 via Concord Music. So far, the group has premiered music videos of two of the record’s brand-new tracks: “Blue Tip” and “Sad Song.”

  1. No Benn Orr means no real Cars!

  2. LuvDaCars

This is awesome news!!! CANNOT wait to see them!!! Ww will of course miss Benjamin Orr, but it’s been a respectfully long enough time. I would like to think he’d want them to keep the Cars running. The Boston show will be insane…

  3. Russ, you’re wrong. I gotta get to this.

  4. Kent Butabi

Darn, no southeastern dates. Hopefully they’ll get down this way.

  5. Trace in Austin

No Texas dates!! Thats a drag. Oh well. We did get Duran Duran, OMD and DEVO within a two week period. But to top it all off with The Cars…

  6. MUST see this show in Toronto!

  7. @Russ – Well, this is close to the real thing and it’s going to get. I never actually thought a reunion with all the original surviving members would even happen. I for one am not one bit disappointed and will be catching the DC show!!!

  8. j’s answer was better than mine Russ. Sry for answering like a douche’. i was just thinking that the rest of the band must feel like chopped liver when people say that type of thing, sort of how sumner and company must have felt after ian’s passing. the Cars won’t be the same but i think Orr’s spirit will live on in the band and they’ll do a great job.

  9. really excited for this! I’m totally digging the new stuff I’ve heard!

  10. The Cars were rubbish live, back when they were big. Everyone thought so. Don’t even try to reinvent the past.

  11. Who will be singing lead on Moving in Stereo,Stay the Night, or Drive? It will be hard to go to see them without those songs but I can’t imagine anyone else singing them but Benjamin. Still, am glad it’s happening.

  12. reply 2 Doug

On the contrary Doug, they where known as one of the best live acts ever. My Dad saw they every time they came here back in the 80s. Only band he pay to see more than once cuz it was so good.
I applaud your attempt to have the place to yourself but there gonna be amazing shows.

  13. A friend saw them in Portland in the 70’s and said they were the tightest band he has ever seen.

Please come to the Fillmore in Charlotte, nC!

I ordered the record and cd. I am listening to the stream now of Move Like This. thanks Rolling Stone! Fu$king great!

What about Omaha, NE…surely this can’t be it…Come on CARS, lets make it a big tour!! I would even travel to Kansas City!!

  15. Saw the CARS last night in DC. They are my favorite band of all time but still are very very boring on stage as they were 27 years ago. Sounded very good and the new music is great. By the way Lynda, Ric sings Moving In Stereo which he sang last evening and Stay the Night was a Ben song so the Cars would not sing this one. Missed you Ben.
