Wire streams new album ‘Red Barked Tree,’ sets short North American tour in April

Wire

Postpunk survivors Wire will embark on a short nine-date North American tour this April (and possibly play a certain festival) in support of their 12th studio album — the 11-track Red Barked Tree — which is due out on Tuesday, although you can now stream the record in its entirety on NPR’s website.

The band — Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey — will open the spring dates April 1 in Toronto, Ontario, and wrap up in Portland, Ore., on April 12. The shows are part of a planned worldwide tour, which the band says, on its website, will hit 16 countries on three continents, wrapping up “at a location in North America we cannot for the moment reveal” — surely a reference to the Coachella festival, which runs April 15-17.

  1. Wow…I didn’t realise before this post that Wire are down to only 50% of their original lineup.

Will the next Wire tour be Colin Newman solo?
