Dead Can Dance’s Brendan Perry sets solo dates; tour with Peter Murphy begins in April

Brendan Perry of Dead Can Dance

Dead Can Dance’s Brendan Perry today unveiled a 20-date solo tour of Europe this spring in support of the forthcoming Ark — his release first in 11 years — and said his previously announced co-headlining tour with Peter Murphy will open in mid-April in South America.

Perry’s solo trek begins March 14 in Lisbon and continues into Eastern Europe, wrapping April 7 in Moscow (see full tour dates below). In today’s update, Perry says he’ll be selling regular and special editions of the eight-track Ark, the follow-up to 1999’s Eye of the Hunter, at those concerts. A commercial release for the album hasn’t yet been announced.

As for the tour with the former Bauhaus frontman, Perry writes, “From mid-April onward I will be joined by Peter Murphy in South America for our combined double-headline tour. Dates to follow.” An item posted last fall on Perry’s website reported the tour would consist of 100 dates that “commence in South America via Mexico to North America and then on to Europe.”

Why are there no tour dates for venues in North America? I have been an ardent Dead Can Dance, BRENDAN PERRY and Bauhaus fan for many years. I have also come to find many other fans like myself wondering why Brendan Perry does not tour across the United States.Hordes of Americans on the East coast would flock to a concert given by such a gifted vocalist, and it is absolutely heart wrenching to read that none of the locations come remotely close to us here.
