BACKSTORY: The former Bauhaus leader this week releases his first solo album in seven years and his ninth overall, an 11-track effort that’s been preceded by the first single “I Spit Roses” — a song written about the collapse of Bauhaus’ recent reunion. BACKSTORY: The synthpop legends’ new remix set — a sequel to 2004’s Remixes 81-04 marks the first time all five current and former DM members have worked on the same project, with Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder contributing mixes of “Behind the Wheel” and “In Chains.” (See tracklist here and enter to win a copy here.)

BACKSTORY: Rhino Records this week releases in the U.K. a new 18-song best-of compilation covering the “most important tracks” by Joy Division and and its successor New Order — including a previously unreleased New Order song called “Hellbent.” The deluxe digital edition includes a dozen videos. BACKSTORY: Universal Music has released new, no-frills remastered editions of the 10 albums released before Michael Hutchence’s death in a new box set available for a limited time in Australia, the U.K. and Europe. Included are all 10 albums spanning the band’s 1980 self-titled debut through 1997’s Elegantly Wasted.

BACKSTORY: The punk icons this week release in the U.K. a new album featuring re-recordings of 24 of the band’s songs, including “Orgasm Addict,” “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’tve)” and “What Do I Get?” Frontman Pete Shelley says, “The original records now sound like demos.”

Duncan Sheik, 'Covers 80s'ARTIST: Duncan Sheik
