Stream 3 tracks from Railcars’ noise-rock cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Hounds of Love’

Railcars, 'Hounds of Love'

San Francisco noise-rock act Railcars — the musical alter ego of Aria C. Jalali — this summer will release a cover of the classic first side of Kate Bush’s 1985 album Hounds of Love on limited-edition cassette and one-sided vinyl formats — and you can hear three of the genre-bending tracks below.

Railcars’ Hounds of Love — featuring “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),” “Hounds of Love,’ “The Big Sky,” “Mother Stands for Comfort” and “Cloudbusting” — will be released June 21 on cassette in a run of 100 copies by Crash Symbols, and then on one-sided vinyl (with laser-etching on the flip side) in a 275-copy pressing on Aug. 8 by AMDISCS.

You can stream three of the mini-album’s five tracks — drastic aural makeovers of “Hounds of Love,” “The Big Sky” and “Cloudbusting” — after the jump.

  1. Honestly? Cacophonous art school fuckery. As I kind of expected.

Placebo’s cover was too note-for-note. The Futureheads ftw. I would like to see a female artist nail Kate, but I’m skeptical because all the ones I’ve heard thus far sound like highly amateurish Kate imitations.

  2. The synth hook on “The Big Sky” reminds me of “Take Me Home” by Phil Collins for some reason.
