The Specials announce 23-date tour of Europe, U.K. for next September and October

The Specials, 'The Specials'

Reformed 2 Tone-era ska act The Specials this morning announced a lengthy tour of Europe and the band’s native U.K. next fall, a trek that puts its reunion well into a third year.

The tour opens Sept. 15 in Amsterdam, and includes 10 dates throughout Europe before returning to the U.K. for a run of arenas beginning Oct. 11 in Wolverhampton and wrapping Nov. 3 in London (see dates below).

Although frontman Terry Hall reportedly told an audience in Manchester earlier this month that the band will be performing its self-titled 1979 debut and its 1980 follow-up More Specials back-to-back, no formal announcement has yet been made. Nor any indication, yet, that the Specials plan to make good on their promise to return to the U.S. “in early 2011.″

  1. Let’s hope that as I speak the Specials are lining up the venues for a spring/summer ’11 US tour. I’m sure you UK fans are quite thrilled (again), but c’mon, this year and next and all we get is a couple festivals and TV? US = denied!

  2. And chuck in a tour of Australia – the Madness shows were awesome and well attended. The Specials would match that and some.
