Video: Surfer Blood covers Pixies’ ‘Gigantic’

The gang at The AV Club are well into the new round of their Undercover series, in which bands drop in on the site’s Chicago offices and pick a song off a predetermined list to cover live in a very small room. This week’s installment finds indie buzz band Surfer Blood plowing through the Pixies classic “Gigantic”  — with The Girls At Dawn’s Sarah Baldwin doing the Kim Deal thing.

Earlier we brought you a clip of Rocky Votolato and the members of Matt Pond PA doing a stripped-down take on The Human League’s 1981 synthpop classic “Don’t You Want Me.” Still on the AV Club’s list of songs to be covered in the coming months: Gary Numan’s “Cars,” The Clash’s “Janie Jones” and Sugar’s “If I Can’t Change Your Mind.”
