Milestones: Pixies’ ‘Doolittle’ was released 22 years ago today; watch full 1989 concert

Couple weeks back we posted a Pixies concert from 1988 to commemorate frontman Black Francis’ 46th birthday; well, today brings another key Pixies milestone — the band’s instant classic Doolittle was released exactly 22 years go today — so how about another full-length vintage concert?

This show, posted by YouTube user cobyblack, was filmed at the Rodon Club in Athens, Greece, on May 19, 1989 — just a month after the album dropped — and was broadcast on Greek TV. You can check out the setlist below, and watch the whole thing in the embedded player above — or peruse the individual clips at Slicing Up Video. Oh, and the Pixies’ official site has the next night’s show on sale as an MP3 download.

So let’s celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Doolittle as the Pixies themselves are still out on the road with their seemingly endless Doolittle 20th anniversary tour.
