Peter Murphy solo debut ‘Should the World Fail to Fall Apart’ to be reissued as 2CD set

Peter Murphy, 'Should the World Fail to Fall Apart'

It’s a great year for Peter Murphy fans, with new album Ninth in stores and a Dalis Car sequel on the horizon — and now comes an expanded 25th anniversary reissue of the former Bauhaus leader’s solo debut Should the World Fail to Fall Apart, complete with an unreleased mix of the title track.

Due out July 22 on Cherry Red, the reissue features a newly remastered copy of the original 10-track album — remastered by Beggars Archive — as well as a bonus disc featuring 14 B-sides, remixes and alternate versions, including three different mixes of Pere Ubu cover “Final Solution” (see tracklist below).

On its blog, Beggars notes that both of the previously released “Should the World Fail to Fall Apart” ultimately were omitted (Beggars provided the master tapes, but Cherry Red selected the tracklist and commissioned the packaging). But when label reps heard the test pressing, they realized that, by mistake, the set included what turned out to be “an otherwise unavailable (and unknown!) mix done at Trident.”

  1. When/where has “Stay” ever been released? He performed it live early on…

    • Stay was unrlsd until now along with two other unreleased tracks/mixes,
I wouldnt say it was peter’s worst album, but DEF his most commercial/crossover pop appealing sounding record ….its a good remaster/reissue and disc two’s a cracker!

  2. This album is by far the worst PM album released up to Holy Smoke (the last album I own from the man). Still love him for Bauhaus and a few solo gems.
