Mark Burgess to perform The Chameleons’ ‘Script of the Bridge’ in New York, Oakland

Frontman Mark Burgess will perform The Chameleons’ 1983 debut album Script of the Bridge in its entirety at a pair of special concerts in Oakland, Calif., and New York City during a November tour of the U.S. under the ChameleonsVox banner.

As Brooklyn Vegan notes, Burgess — who adopted the ChameleonsVox name for the group he formed with former Chameleons drummer John Lever in 2009 to play the post-punk band’s back catalog — has announced 10 U.S. dates in November, including four shows in the New York City area. The band’s website indicates more concerts are being planned for the fall tour.

ChameleonsVox will perform Script of the Bridge, which was reissued in 2008 in a 25th anniversary 2CD edition, at just two of the U.S. concerts: Nov. 16 at the New Parish in Oakland and a midnight show Nov. 23 at Home Sweet Home in Manhattan (see full dates below). The latter concert is a Wierd Records promotion, and the band’s site says tickets are very limited; anyone interested in seeing that show is asked to e-mail info@wierdrecords.com for details on how to purchase tickets.

  1. wow. i saw mark back in 2002 and he was great live. he did an encore of chameleons tracks and it sent shivers down my back. great live performer. gotta try to catch one of these shows!

  2. If it’s the same band as when I last saw him here in SF (2009? 2010?), they were crackin! Can’t wait for Oakland!
