Stream: Jack White covers U2’s ‘Love is Blindness’ for ‘Achtung Baby’ tribute

Yesterday we learned the full tracklist of Q magazine’s upcoming full-album tribute to U2’s 20-year-old Achtung Baby, and now we have our first taste of the cheekily titled AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered: guitar slayer Jack White’s bluesy rumble through the album-closing “Love is Blindness.” The track premiered on BBC Radio 2 yesterday, and we’ve got a stream of it below via Consequence of Sound. The CD arrives with the December issue of Q, due to hit U.K. newsstands on Oct. 26. See the full tracklist for the U2 tribute here.

  1. Bah. Trespassers William’s cover of this song crushes this version like a grape.

  2. Had a listen to Trespassers William’s cover. I disagree, Lotus. Jack’s version is way better. This sounds like it fell off a “Tour of Duty” album. I reckon U2 would wish their original had been this good.

  3. 2 votes for Mr. White.

  4. I apologize for the negative post, friends. Clearly different interpretations by different acts, as it should be. Just flying the flag for my favorite band, I guess. Peace.
