New Order in South America: Reunited band announces 3 concerts in December

Having sold out its upcoming London concert this morning, the reunited New Order — with keyboardist Gillian Gilbert back in the fold, but without departed bassist Peter Hook — today announced it will perform three South American concerts in December.

The band — Bernard SumnerStephen Morris, Gilbert, 2000s-era guitarist Phil Cunningham and Bad Lieutenant bassist Tom Chapman — will play Dec. 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Dec. 3 in Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Dec. 5 in Santiago, Chile.

After selling out its Dec. 10 concert in London in 15 minutes this morning, Sumner, in a statement, said, “On behalf of all the band, I’d like to say a huge thanks to our fans, and to apologize to those of you who didn’t get a chance to get hold of tickets this time around.”

Last month, New Order played played its first concerts in five years, two benefit concerts in Brussels and Paris to raise money for longtime band associate Michael H. Shamberg, who is fighting a “debilitating illness.”

Dec. 5: Movistar Arena, Santiago, Chile
