Sinead O’Connor announces ‘How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?’ — stream 2 tracks

Controversial Irish singer-songwriter and occasional woman of the cloth Sinead O’Connor today announced she will release How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? — her ninth studio album and first in five years — in February, and has offered fans a taste by streaming two of the record’s tracks in advance of the release.

Due out Feb. 21 via One Little Indian, the 10-track album is co-produced by longtime collaborator and ex-husband John Reynolds and is entirely written or co-written by O’Connor — who plans to tour the album internationally — with the exception of a cover of “Queen of Denmark,” the title track off the acclaimed 2010 solo album by former Czars frontman John Grant.

Below, you can hear two of the album’s cuts: “4th and Vine” and “Take Off Your Shoes.”

  1. Ey! this sounds like pretty descent stuff, well produced, and her voice still sounds good. I saw a picture of her a few months ago, where she looked over-weight and completely decadent, and I though to my self…well guess shes through. But after listening to this two tracks, I would buy her new album.

  2. Good songs both, but how about an NSFW on that second one? Thanks.

  3. Great songs. Look forward to the album. Thanks.

  4. I honestly thought these songs were going to suck, but I really like them both, a ton.
And get to Chicago, Sinead. I’ve never seen you live and it’s high time I get to experience you live. :-)

  5. Really good stuff,i was scared by how about i be me – single… cause i don’t like reggae stuff by her o.o but this previews really rocks wow :) her voice is kinda reborn

  6. Oohh….. first track already sounds so cool!
She will always be my hero.. doesn’t give a f*ck about what others think. Takes guts, man.

  7. I really like “Old Lady”. Its a nice rocker! Her voice is beautiful, and the melody is catchy but original
