Rewind Scotland festival returns with Holly Johnson, Marc Almond, ABC, Midge Ure

Rewind Scotland — The ’80s Festival will return for a second year this July, featuring 24 acts spread over two days — including sets by Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bronski Beat’s Jimmy Sommerville, Squeeze, Midge Ure, Lightning Seeds, Marc Almond, ABC and Roland Gift of Fine Young Cannibals.

The festival is slated for July 20-22 at Scone Palace in Perthshire, Scotland, home of the Earls of Mansfield and the crowning palace of the kings of Scotland. In addition to days of music, the festival includes additional festivities ranging from silent discos to live karaoke bars along with various camping options, including something called “glamping” (apparently “glamorous camping”).

Tickets go on sale Friday morning; see rewindfestival.com for details.

The Scottish event is a spin off of the original Rewind — The ’80s Festival, which takes place in Henley-on-Thames, near Reading, England. The lineup for that festival’s third-annual installment, set for Aug. 17-19, will be announced next Wednesday.

  1. Average White Band? Village People? They’re kind of stretching definition of both Scottish and 80’s, aren’t they?

  2. All in good fun, but kind of sad at the same time. Otherwise known as the “festival of bands that couldn’t get along.”

  3. Dave: AWB are scottish and its not a scottish festival it just takes place in scotland.

  4. I don’t think the Lightning Seeds belong on here. They are more of an indiepop band and Cloudcuckooland came out in 1990, but whatever pays the bills I guess.

  5. This was an amazing festival!!! Missing this great atmosphere so going to see Marc Almond playing at HMV Picture House in Edinburgh 29th of September.
