The La’s to headline New York Sound City next month — first NYC concert in 20 years

Reclusive Liverpudlian one-album wonders The La’s will headline the the inaugural New York Sound City music, media and technology conference next month, marking Lee Mavers and Co.’s first concert in New York City in two decades.

The band will perform March 12 at Webster Hall as part of the one-day event, put on by Liverpool’s Sound City, The conference includes panels on music and tech issues, and is capped off by the evening concert, also featuring performances by Dutch Uncles, Outfit and Paula & Karol.

Following their 1990 self-titled album and classic single “There She Goes,” the La’s drifted into obscurity, failing to produce a follow-up. The band reformed in the mid-2000s and has performed sporadically ever since, most recently in a lineup featuring Mavers and bassist Gary Murphy.

Tickets to the New York show are on sale now.
