Blur, The Specials and New Order to play Olympics Closing Ceremony Celebration

Three recently reunited U.K. acts — Britpop masters Blur, 2 Tone ska kings The Specials and electronic-rock pioneers New Order — will perform at a giant “Best of British” outdoor concert this summer to cap off the London Olympics, the bands announced Monday. The Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert is set for Aug. 12 in Hyde Park, and tickets, £55, will be available through a pre-sale beginning 9 a.m. Wednesday and then to the general public at 9 a.m. Friday.   3. I never cared for the Specials but fair enough if you think so.

    Anyone see Blur at the BRits last night? They were a shambolic disgrace.

  4. I’m sure Ian Curtis is turning in his grave. “Rock” legends never die – they just get older and fatter and lose all dignity.
