My Bloody Valentine ‘EPs 1988-1991’ due in May, but reissues vanish from schedule

It’s good news/bad news for My Bloody Valentine fans: The endlessly delayed reissues of 1988’s Isn’t Anything and 1991’s Loveless — the latter featuring an unreleased alternate mix by Kevin Shields — no longer have release dates, but Sony Music is planning to release an MBV disc entitled EPs 1988-1991 this spring.

According to a a new listing at Amazon.co.uk, the compilation will be released May 7. There’s no artwork shown or tracklist yet, but it presumably will compile the band’s four EPs released on Creation Records during that three-year span: You Made Me Realise (1988), Feed Me With Your Kiss (1988), Glider (1990) and Tremolo (1991).

As for the Isn’t Anything and Loveless reissues, loyal readers of the MBV Watch feature know we’ve reported at least nine different release dates for the two titles since November 2009, the latest being April 9. Now, though, HMV.com has removed the listings for the two albums entirely, and Amazon.co.uk lists them as “currently unavailable” instead of showing a release date.

  1. You have to wonder what Kevin Shields does all day? gaze at his shoes? well at least we may actually see a release this year…hopefully Soon :)

  2. That must be a typo. I expect the EPs 1988-1991 to be released in May of 2018!

  3. @ Richard: I so agree with you… WTF is Kevin up to all day long. Why can’t we get the re-release’s as promised? MBV did a “small” tour earlier and I believe there were some releases in the wake following.

I don’t expect to hear anything new from the band (and think it’s best leaving the master pieces as they are) but throwing a few remastered songs out there and a new mix here and there won’t hurt anyone.

C’mon Kev… Pull your self together man!!!

  4. Yeah, I am going to go out on a limb here and say this release is going to delayed for like a month to 4 years….

  5. This is hilarious!

  6. Im pretty skeptical now as the so called EPs release has the same ASIN number on Amazon as the so called Rarities disc that was also rumored to come out last year…id like to know Who ads new releases to Amazon and where they get their info from as there is no reference on any Sony music site.
