BACKSTORY:
 More than a year after the death of former Japan bassist Mick Karn, the Dalis Car EP he recorded with Peter Murphy in the fall of 2010 has now been released. The five-track collection represents the briefly reunited duo’s first work together since their lone album, The Waking Hourcame out in 1984.

 Let the People Speak
BACKSTORY: Pixies frontman Black Francis this week releases the second studio album with his indie/electropop side project, which he formed with his wife, Violet Clark. Tracks include “Annie Bliss,” “Dark Sparkles and The Beat,” “Two Lies and One Truth,” “The Lopsided World of L” and lead single “Silver Boys” (see full tracklist here).

ARTIST : John Doe and Exene Cervenka
RELEASE: Singing and Playing
BACKSTORY:
 The X co-founders this week officially release a formerly tour-only CD that features seven acoustic tracks recorded in 2010 plus a live version of the band’s classic “See How We Are” the duo recorded last year (that track also appears as one of the new studio cuts). (See full tracklist here).

ARTIST : The Human League
RELEASE: Dare: Deluxe Edition
BACKSTORY:
 The synthpop combo this week reissues its 1981 classic in an expanded set that features the 2002 remaster of the original album supplemented by newly remastered 12-inch remixes and instrumental versions on the first disc, and a second disc featuring nearly all of the band’s 1983 Fascination! EP  (full tracklist here).

ARTIST : Joe Jackson
RELEASE: Live at Rockpalast
BACKSTORY:
 The New Wave star this week releases a 32-track, 2CD set compiling three different performances recorded in 1980 and 1983 for the West German TV show, including tracks such as “Steppin’ Out,” “Is She Really Going Out With Him?,” “Beat Crazy,” “Sunday Papers,” “Kinda Kute,” “The Tears of the Clown” and much, much more.

ARTIST : Kevin Hewick
RELEASE: All Was Numbered
BACKSTORY:
 The British singer-songwriter, who recorded for the famed Factory Records in the early ’80s, returns this week with a new eight-song studio album on Peter Hook’s Hacienda Records. The album, recorded in December and January, features tracks such as “French Jazz Station,” “Now Is Then” and “FAC 501.”
