Read the first 23 pages of Jonathan Lethem’s 33⅓ book on Talking Heads’ ‘Fear of Music’

The next book in the ever-expanding 33⅓ series of album dissections finds celebrated novelist Jonathan Lethem (“Motherless Brooklyn,” “The Fortress of Solitude”) tackling Talking Heads’ 1979 classic Fear of Music — and while the 160-page book won’t arrive until later this month, you can now read the first 23 pages online.

The folks at 33⅓ also have lined several special events this spring at venues in California and Massachusetts  to celebrate the book’s release, each of which will feature Lethem reading from the book and discussing it, with a live band playing the music of Talking Heads. “Probably not at the same time,” the publisher notes, “but nevertheless, should be a lot of fun.”

  1. Wouldn’t it be cooler if they offered the first 33 and 1/3 pages to read? They could cut if off mid-sentence if necessary.

  2. All 33 1/3 books for kindle are $0.99 each today only Saturday 4/14
