A collection of some interesting links we recently stumbled across:

Men at Work’s Greg Ham Found Dead Greg Ham, who played flute, saxophone and keyboards with Australia’s Men at Work, was found dead Thursday in his Melbourne home, and police told reporters, “There are a number of unexplained aspects to it which has caused our attendance here today, and we’re assisting the local detectives to determine what has occurred,” [Billboard.com]

Mark E. Smith Shows Us His Record Collection In the run-up to Saturday’s fifth-annual Record Store Day, here’s a resurrected interview from 1990 that finds Andy Gill speaks to The Fall’s Mark E. Smih about his record collection. Smith says he didn’t get into music at first as a kid: “Then at 14, all at once, I went through it all, really quick: Pink Floyd? Crap! T.Rex? Rubbish! Paul McCartney? Urrgh! Black Sabbath, ‘Paranoid’? Great! Know what mean?” [The Quietus]

Lee Ranaldo on Sonic Youth’s Future: Nothing Final but We’re Not Making Plans Lee Ranaldo discusses his new solo album Between the Times and the Tides, but also addresses the future of Sonic Youth in the wake of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon splitting up. “It’s up in the air. We’re taking a much-needed break and leaving it at that. We’re not saying anything final, but we’re not discussing anything for the future either. We’re just letting it be.” [Spinner.com]

Stream The Electronic Anthology Project of Dinosaur Jr Built to Spill’s Brett Nelson teams up with J Mascis to record new electronic version of a host of Dinosaur Jr songs, a collection that will be released this Saturday as part of Record Store Day. Before then, however, you can stream the whole thing online. [Stereogum.com]

  1. Sad news about Greg Ham. Men at Work were my first concert in 1984 with INXS in the opening slot. Good show. RIP Greg.
