Video: Lucero covers David Bowie’s ‘Modern Love’ for The AV Club’s ‘Undercover 2012’

Checking back in with the The AV Club’s recently launched Undercover 2012 series, we find that roots rockers Lucero have taken taken it upon themselves to cover David Bowie’s 1983 hit “Modern Love.” It’s a pretty good match, considering Lucero’s horn section. Still left on the AV Club’s list of songs to be covered on this go-around: Violent Femmes’ “Kiss Off,”The Pretenders’ “Back on the Chain Gang,” New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle” and Suicidal Tendencies’ “Institutionalized,” among others.

  1. Damn good. So many times AV Club features indie bands that completely decimate their covers — lethargic tempos, “hushed/introspective” vocals, blah, blah, blah. Lucero, however, does this tune up right.

  2. where has the video of this performance gone? Is there absolutely any way that i can watch it again? I’d gnaw off my left arm to have this video back somewhere online. I literally search for it every six months to no avail…
