The Cult, The Mission, Killing Joke U.K. arena tour downsized for ‘more intimate experience’

A five-date U.K. arena tour planned for this September featuring hard-rocking headliners The Cult with support from a pair of freshly reunited ’80s-era contemporaries — The Mission and the original lineup of Killing Joke — has been downsized to smaller venues in what is almost certainly a sign of shockingly poor ticket sales.

Of the three acts, it appears only The Mission has announced the tour re-shuffling, which will find the bands playing the same five cities, but at considerably smaller venues and some on different dates. For example, in Manchester, instead of playing the 20,000-seat Manchester Arena, the tour will stop at the 3,500-capacity O2 Apollo Manchester.

According to The Mission’s announcement, the tour “is to be moved to smaller venues to provide a more intimate experience for fans.” The band adds that, “Ticket vendors will be in touch with customers to confirm ticketing arrangements for the new venues.” Tickets for most of the new shows already are on sale via livenation.co.uk.

Probably because it was £50 a ticket!!!

    • these days that doesn’t sound too outrageous. that’s what – $75? $25 per band. The Cult’s recent show here in SF was about $50!!! WAY too much if you ask me. it sold out though.

    • Just look at concert ticket prices in 2023! £50 seems cheap

  2. LMAO, what were they thinking? All these bands barely can fill small theaters/clubs. And they thought they would sell Arenas?

    Plumb Dumb.

But this is better for the fans, who wants to see this line-up of bands in an arena?

  3. Looks like some guys cant move on from 1989!

  4. How about releasing some great good sounding new material with the original line ups on all the bands, and then tour.

The new Cult and Killing Joke albums are fantastic, the Mish are not recording at the mo

Killing Joke can easily fill the Hammersmith Apollo by themselves; and are simply the best live band on the planet at the moment. Why they see fit to tour with these other two 80’s throwbacks is beyond me…

  7. To quote Spinal Tap… I wouldn’t say they’re becoming less popular; I would say that their appeal is becoming more selective.

    Gold.
