Reunited indie-pop outfit The Ocean Blue — best remembered for its Echo & The Bunnymen-like debut single “Between Something and Nothing” — will release their first new album in 13 years this January on a new record label started by the band’s David Schelzel and some friends, the group announced today.
The album, the band’s first since 2000’s Davy Jones’ Locker, will be released Jan. 15 on the newly launched Korda Records. No title, cover art or tracklist has yet been revealed.
The Ocean Blue released four major-label records between 1989 and 1996, and, in the years since Davy Jones’ Locker, a pair of independent EPs as well. For the past couple years, the group also has posted Christmas singles, the latest of which you can still check out here.

Who else remembers the other similar sounding band from PA Riverside? Great debut record that received some airplay.
saw them both at the North Star Bar about 8 years ago. great show. Riverside played the World Cafe a few years ago.

Incorrect…no ill feelings as he was at the show in NYC at the last go around and David gave a shout out to him. He left mostly to get out of performing and into producing. He started Kinetic Records with mild success.
