The Mission unveils first U.S. tour in 11 years — plus U.K. dates with Fields of the Nephilim

Next September, two years after reuniting to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary, The Mission will tour North America for the first time in 11 years, playing a short run of 10 concerts set to take place mostly on the East and West coasts of the United States, with a lone Canadian date thrown in, the band announced today.

Following that, the reunited Mission — Wayne Hussey, Simon Hinkler and Craig Adams, plus new drummer Mike Kelly — also will mount a four-date U.K. tour in December 2013 that will be co-headlined by goth-rock contemporaries  Fields of the Nephilim.

The North American “Keeping the Faith” tour opens Sept. 3 in Washington, D.C., and wraps up two weeks later in Seattle, Wash. (see full dates below).

Of the tour, Hussey writes on the band’s Facebook page:

“Well, it’s been 10 years since the band last toured in the North America and we’ve been receiving a fair few requests via our website and Facebook page for us to visit the ol’ colony again. And who are we to disappoint? My last time there with the band in 2002 wasn’t a particularly happy experience so I’m looking to rectify that situation this time around. On long ago previous North American tours both Simon and Craig have left the band mid tour so we are tempting fate by returning but to address that possible eventuality we are only playing a few shows this time so it’s not really long enough for us to crack up, get sick of each other and fracture. Anyway, we’re all older and more moderate in our behaviour and whilst not particularly wiser we do see this as an opportunity to show the natives what they’ve been missing this last year or so since we got back together. God bless you, America. You don’t know what you’ve let yourselves in for!”

Then comes the “Revelations” tour, four concerts across the U.K. this month co-headlined by Fields of the Nephilm, including stops in Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and London (see full dates below). Says Hussey: ‘’I think the two bands complement each other very well and provide a good, healthy, value for money evening’s entertainment of the highest order.”

Tickets for both the North American and U.K. shows are set to go on sale Friday.

Both The Mission and Fields of the Nephilim are expected to release new albums in 2013.

  7. Batshiz Crazay

Think the only time the Nephilim toured the U.S. was 1987 or 1988. Looong time for those guys…

OMG…So damn psyched for the NYC show – who is still the Messiah of all Messiahs??? ;-)

  9. We’re not a colony anymore, but while you’re on the subject, it was you wanky Brit colonists that caused the genocide of millions of Native Americans. BTY I do appreciate visiting bands from the UK, just don’t tolerate inane comments.
