Slicing Up Eyeballs’ most-clicked of 2012: R.E.M., The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Depeche Mode

We’ve come to the close of another year, which means it’s time to tally up what people have been reading on Slicing Up Eyeballs over the past 12 months. A lot of posts about Depeche Mode, it turns out. While the band only logs one entry in the Top 10, they’ve got six headlines in the Top 20 — a good year from the boys from Basildon.

As you can see from the full most-viewed list below, the big winner in 2012 was our premiere of some very rare footage of R.E.M. performing a full 40-minute set in at Atlanta’s 688 Club in February 1981. The Top 10 also features multiple entries about The Cure and Dead Can Dance, as well as streams of new music from Kate Bush and Public Image Ltd.

As we approach our fourth anniversary in February, it’s been another fantastic year, with more than 760,000 visitors from 195 different countries — including one apiece from the likes of Somalia, Papua New Guinea, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and Timor-Leste — racking up nearly 2.5 million pageviews on the site over the course of 2012.

So thank you all for stopping by Slicing Up Eyeballs in 2012 to read, watch, listen, comment, participate and share — and stay tuned for a great 2013.
