Mudhoney marks 25th anniversary with new ‘Vanishing Point’ LP — download first track

This April marks the 25th anniversary of both Mudhoney and its label, Seattle’s Sub Pop Records, and the proto-grunge act will mark the occasion with the release of its ninth studio album, Vanishing Point — which you can preview now via a free download of first single “The Only Son of the Widow from Nain.”

The 10-song album is due out April 1 in Europe and April 2 in North America via Sub Pop on CD, LP and digital download.

Sub Pop notes: “The band isn’t masquerading as teenaged, beer-soaked goofballs wandering high school hallways-these are songs written from the rare vantage point of a band who went through the rock n’ roll meat-grinder and not only lived to tell such a tale, they came out full of the wisdom and dark humor such a journey provides.”

Mudhoney will mark the release with a pair of  Pacific Northwest record-release shows, in Portland and Seattle, before embarking on a three-week European tour running from late May through early June.  Additional U.S. dates are promised “soon,” and the band says it might play South America this year, too.

  1. Love the album art.

  2. Batshiz Crazay

They really helped define the Grunge sound back in the early days along with Tad, Nirvana and all the rest. Sounds a bit like early Mudhoney.
