Free MP3: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club covers The Call’s ‘Let the Day Begin’

As our friends at Strangeways Radio point out, modern-rock trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club this week released the first single off their upcoming seventh album, Specter at the Feast, as a free MP3 — and, perhaps not surprisingly, it’s a cover of “Let the Day Begin,” the classic 1989 single by The Call, whose frontman, the late Michael Been, is the father of BRMC’s Robert Levon Been.

Michael Been died of a heart attack in 2010 while on tour with BRMC; he had produced the band’s then-current album, Beat the Devil’s Tattoo, and was serving as the group’s sound engineer.

Below, you can stream BRMC’s “Let the Day Begin” — and check out The Call’s original video for the track — or download it from the band’s website in exchange for an e-mail address.
