Morrissey hospitalized in Michigan with ‘suspected bladder infection’

With three U.S. tour dates already canceled or postponed due to unspecified “band illness,” a representative for Morrissey now tells Billboard.com that the ex-Smiths singer has been hospitalized at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., “where he is undergoing tests for a suspected bladder infection.”

According to an earlier statement released by Morrissey’s publicist, the Thursday night’s Flint, Mich,, show was canceled outright, while dates in Minneapolis on Friday night and Chicago tonight will be rescheduled. Fans who were planning to attend those shows are encouraged to hold onto those tickets “and look out for rescheduled dates.”

The tour was expected to resume Monday in Asheville, N.C., but it’s unclear whether that will be affected by Morrissey’s hospitalization.

The tour, which runs through mid-March, was rescheduled after Morrissey postponed dozens of dates last fall to return to England to be with his ailing mother.

In unrelated news, Morrissey’s March 2 concert in Sparks, Nev., has been canceled “due to scheduling conflicts,” according to the venue’s Facebook page.
