Free MP3: Wire, ‘Love Bends’ — reworked 1980 track off ‘Change Becomes Us’

Wire, 'Change Becomes Us'

U.K. post-punk legends Wire have offered up a second taste of their upcoming 13th album Changes Becomes Us — which is due out March 25 — in the form of “Love Bends,” which, like the rest of the material on the new album, is part of the band’s “exploration of unrecorded material originally written in 1979-80.”

According to the band, the roots of “Love Bends” lie in the song “Piano Tuner,” which was performed in February 1980 and included on the 1981 live album Document and Eyewitness. Now the song has “morphed, improbably, into an irresistible, totally modern pop song.” Graham Lewis says: “It had to be turned into something else because it only really had one bit.”

You can download the track for free via Stereogum.
