Record Store Day 2013: The Cure, R.E.M., PiL, Hüsker Dü, JAMC, Kate Bush, The Fall + more

Record Store Day 2013

We’re now less than a month away from the 2013 edition of Record Store Day — it falls on April 20 this year — and now that the full U.S. and U.K. lists of exclusive releases are out, we’ve culled the title and put together this handy guide of highlights featuring releases likely to interest fans of ’80s college rock and alternative music.

Below, you’ll find highlights of the U.S. release list followed by the U.K. standouts; there are many titles on both lists (The Cure, R.E.M., The Glove, a Factory Records sampler for example), but also a good number that aren’t (PiL’s release is only in the U.S., for example, while The Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo & The Bunnymen and Kate Bush are going U.K.-only).

So check out the lists, and be sure to find the nearest participating independent retailer (U.S. stores, U.K. stores) if you’re hoping to head out April 20 to score some of these.

  1. I can’t even think where there might be a record store around here. Lots of banks, fast food and a Trader Joe’s though. Maybe I’ll just watch Pretty in Pink on Record Store Day for the good memories. Then head to Google Play to pick up some low quality MP3s.

  2. The record store day website has a list of participating stores.

Have my personal list together which is mostly The Glove, The Cure, and Wire. Pretty much everything else I want is UK only.

  3. This is also worth investing in… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVJqAfShPUo
