Erasure’s Andy Bell says he can’t commit to Regeneration Tour until lineup fixed

Erasure's Andy Bell

Just days after The Human League pulled out of this summer’s planned Regeneration Tour saying the group had been “promised one thing and delivered something so completely different,” another act on the bill, Erasure frontman Andy Bell, is warning fans that he might not be joining the tour, either — at least not until a new lineup is in place.

In a message posted to his website today, Bell acknowledges getting questioned by fans about the tour. He writes: “Simply put, I’d hoped to be part of this tour but because of the ongoing confusion over who will actually be performing, I cannot commit until a confirmed line-up of artists and itinerary are presented.”

After The Human League dropped out last week, the trek’s organizers posted on the Regeneration Tour’s Facebook page that “the dates are currently on hold until a replacement for The Human League is confirmed. At that time a full schedule will be announced.” At least five shows already had been announced and/or gone on sale, and some still list The Human League as performing.

The tour also will feature performances by Howard Jones and Information Society. A note on Jones’ website says, “We are working hard to try and get over to the USA this summer and will post a further update as soon as we have any more information.”

Andy Bell statement 4/29/13:

We’ve been getting a lot of questions from fans about the Regeneration Tour planned for this summer. Simply put, I’d hoped to be part of this tour but because of the ongoing confusion over who will actually be performing, I cannot commit until a confirmed line-up of artists and itinerary are presented. Please visit check this website and the Official Facebook Page for the only authorised updates from me on this situation.

  1. I can’t believe Information Society hasn’t pulled the plug yet, those guys are usually the first to tuck tail and run from a tour. Kurt must need the money, lol.

Howard will stick around, he’s not a quitter. Hopefully Andy’s statement will put some pressure on the organizers to get this thing in shape.

    • Louis, Information Society hasn’t announced their involvement with this tour and no tour dates are listed on their website.

  2. Since its inception, the Regeneration Tour has been plagued with problems concerning the line-up of artists involved.
I would strongly advise the promoters to give it up, at least until they’ve secured some decent acts (and no, I’m not talking about your Bananaramas, Rick Astlys, Flock Of Seagulls, etc.)

WTF ever happened to PSB’ WOTAPALAVA festival?
Now that was a good idea!

  3. I’ll say one thing. It won’t matter one whit to the fans who bought tickets for Chastain in Atlanta. It has been proven that those morons will watch people eating pizza, as long as they can have their wine and cheese and mindless conversation.

  4. david c: Agree. I’m hoping New Order doesn’t walk off the stage half-way through their normal 12 song set.

  5. Exactly david c! Stopped going to Chastain a while back unless seats near the front are involved. The thought of watching this show with drunk corporate types looking to relive their high school years (well, at least for the one song by each band that they’ve actually heard) makes my skin crawl. One of the worst venues in the U.S.

  6. I saw my one and only show ar chastain about 3 years ago… What a shock! Coolers & people carrying in full buffett style dinners… And 1/2 the audience unaware of who or what was on stage… Very annoying

  7. Just bring Erasure to Australia…

  8. Uhmmm… Men Without Hats?

How about drunk medical professionals looking to hear brilliant synth-pop that they haven't had the chance to before? It sounds like a good night out to me. Granted it'd be better if Vince Clarke were there but beggar can't be choosers.
