Morrissey announces South American tour with concerts in Chile, Peru, Brazil, Argentina

Morrissey, circa 2009

Morrissey today unveiled the first dates of his planned tour of South America, with three concerts confirmed for late July and early August in Brazil via the quasi-official fansite True To You — and at least 12 more dates by the former Smiths frontman still promised next month across Chile, Peru and Argentina.

UPDATE 6/13/13: Morrissey today rolled out the full itinerary for his South American tour, which features 14 concerts in four countries, including both a private show and a free arena concert in Santiago, Chile, which will see a total of four separate performances by Moz. See full dates below.

The announcement of concerts in Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro is a bit of a surprise following last week’s news that Moz was planning to play eight shows in Chile, three in Peru and one in Argentina in July, but that there were “no plans for any further shows in 2013.”

Brazil, however, had been included when plans for a Latin American tour were first announced in March.

Morrissey’s resumption of touring follows a trouble-plagued North American trek in late 2012 and earlier this year that, after multiple postponements, finally was canceled altogether in mid-March. The singer’s publicists blamed the cancellations on “a series of medical mishaps over the past few months including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett’s esophagus and double pneumonia.”

Morrissey himself issued a statement, saying, “I hope this isn’t the end, and I hope there will be other chances, minus the heavy burden of illness.”

Morrissey, who has been recovering in Los Angeles, last toured South America in February 2012.

  1. gonzalo arriagada navarrete

cuándo se sabrá si viene a Chile ????

  2. Cue the ironic air crash in the Andes, where the survivors chose to kill and eat Morrissey, rather than the livestock. A win-win situation, as there’s only so much nagging one can take.

  3. Cool more shows for him to cancel.

  4. Onde comprar ingressos para o show no Rio de Janeiro ?
