‘120 Memories’ event in Philadelphia next week to celebrate ‘the era of Kendall’

120 Memories

As frequent visitors to this site know, we like to revisit that classic staple of Sunday night TV, MTV’s “120 Minutes,” each Friday with our weekly 120 Minutes Rewind series. So it’s great to see our friend and fellow aficionado Chris Cummins (aka @bionicbigfoot) going a step further, and hosting a live “120 Memories” event in Philadelphia next week.

The live reading and listening event, set for 9 p.m. next Tuesday at The 700 in Philly, is being put on by Philebrity.com, and promises “an evening devoted to the late, great MTV program ‘120 Minutes,'” featuring “video, music and writing from the era of Kendall.”

That, of course, is a reference to Dave Kendall, the show’s creator, who took over as host in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Cummins, the “120 Memories” host, runs the “What’s Dave Kendall Wearing?” Tumblr, which recently came to the attention of Kendall himself (who currently can be heard hosting “Party 360” on Friday nights on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave channel).

As for “120 Memories,” it will feature local writers reading their “120 Minutes”-related pieces. If anyone has something they’d like to read or contribute to the event, they’re asked to send it to tips@philebrity.com. The best submissions will be published next month in Philebrity’s inaugural tablet magazine.
