The Smithereens will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Green Thoughts next month with a new digital compilation that collects live versions of songs from that album, song demos and radio recordings, much of which was recorded around 1988 — although some of the material comes from the ’90s and there’s even one performance from 2004.
The band will release the 25-track Green Thoughts Live Compilation – 25th Anniversary 1988-2013 digitally on Sept. 15, and it’s now available for pre-order via iTunes.

Whenever I hear The Smithereens, I still think about that lip-dribble mustache.
Love that album! This should be a fun listen.
Big mistake making it digital only. Those of us in the Smithereens’ general listening demographic have the pocketbook and the appreciation for the sonic superiority of physical media.

The cd SHOULD be released in at least a CD format, if not DVD, and cassette. Smithereen fans are mature adults, and digital just doesn’t cut it by itself.
And I won’t go for digita,either.
