The Cure books Texas arena gig between Austin City Limits Festival headlining dates

The Cure

The Cure continues to drop new fall tour dates, with the latest being an arena concert booked for the University of Texas at El Paso on Oct. 10 during the week between Robert Smith and Co.’s two headlining appearances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

As Chain of Flowers notes, the university today announced the concert at the 12,000-seat Don Haskins Arena, with tickets going on sale 10 a.m. Friday.

It’s not clear how many shows The Cure plans in North America this fall, but, so far, the band is slated to also play in Monterrey, Mexico, and at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans.

The Cure tour dates:

Oct. 5: Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin, TX, USA
Oct. 8: Monterrey Arena, Monterrey, Mexico
Oct. 10: Don Haskins Arena, University of Texas, El Paso, TX, USA
Oct. 12: Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin, TX, USA
Nov. 1-3: Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, New Orleans, LA, USA

  1. That 80's Guy

My bet is we will see more Midwest and possibly East Coast dates leading up to Voodoo.

The setlists have been mainly ‘greatest hits’ with a few nuggets like ‘Bananafishbones’ thrown in. Personally, I like seeing The Cure when they play shows like ‘Reflections’ and I don’t have to sit through ‘Just Like Heaven’ for the 50th time, lol..

Hopefully the West Coast or Vegas will get a show or two before this run is over, but doubtful based on the time between Austin and Voodoo. Makes more sense to go to the Midwest, Northeast and circle back down to New Orleans.

  2. Agree. For all the bands I see now I try to get within the first three rows. Otherwise, I can’t seem to get excited about overplayed songs that make the casual fan happy.
